Model Gigi Hadid was arrested last week in the Cayman Islands after being found with cannabis.

Hadid, 28, and her friend arrived at Owen Roberts International Airport on 10 July via a private plane and their luggage was searched by custom officials.

The pair were arrested before being released on bail.

Two days later, Hadid and her friend were formally charged during a court appearance, where they pleaded guilty and were both fined $1,000, according to local outlet Cayman Marl Road.

Hadid’s representative said she was travelling with marijuana purchased legally in New York “with a medical license”.

The spokesperson added: “It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”

Hadid has appeared to post about the holiday on Instagram.

After news of her arrest broke, Hadid shared pictures including one of her sunbathing on the beach with friends, alongside the caption: “All’s well that ends well.”

She also posted two more pictures on 14 July, two days after the court appearance.
