Social media platform Instagram has added the option for people to show pronouns on their profile.
Users are now able to display up to four different identifiers, from a selection chosen by the the Facebook-owned network.
A statement said the new settings were made available “in a few countries, with plans for more”.
Account owners can also choose for their desired pronouns to only appear for followers.
People can also request titles that are not already available through Instagram’s help page.
The statement from Instagram said: “We’ll continue to update the list of terms over time, so that more people around the world can share their pronouns more easily.”
Among the current list of available pronouns are: He, him, hir, her, she, em, eir, they, thon, them, per and ze.
Vishal Shah, the platform’s vice president of product, added: “It’s another way to express yourself on Instagram and we’ve seen a lot of people adding pronouns already, so hopefully this makes it even easier.”
