‘Let’s get to work’ – US celebrities react to their new president-elect

Celebrities are reacting to the news that Joe Biden will be the next president of the United States of America.

The Democrat’s campaign was littered with star-studded endorsements as many in the creative world voiced their displeasure with Donald Trump’s leadership.

Among those celebrating on social media were Lizzo, Lady Gaga, and the stars of political drama The West Wing.

In a tearful post on Instagram, musician Lizzo urged: “Let’s get to work, America”.

Joshua Malina, who starred in The West Wing as Will Bailey, shared a photo with co-stars Bradley Whitford and Janel Moloney, as well as others with the statement “celebrating w friends”.

Lady Gaga posted posted on Instagram to say: “Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the American people, you just gave the world one of the greatest acts of kindness and bravery humanity has ever seen.”

Director Jordan Peele simply said “you’re fired” – referencing Donald Trump’s former reality TV stint in The Apprentice.

Comedian Amy Schumer posted on Instagram to say: “This is such a big deal guys!! We did it.”

Actor Mark Ruffalo tweeted: “Good work everyone! We worked very hard for this. We lost so many beautiful people and we must celebrate for them and move forward henceforth in a good way.”

Singer John Legend said: “Congratulations to President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris! Thank you for choosing to serve your country during these challenging times.”
